Sunday Poem ~ Mother’s Day

Mother

Lola Ridge, 1873

Your love was like moonlight
turning harsh things to beauty,
so that little wry souls
reflecting each other obliquely
as in cracked mirrors . . .
beheld in your luminous spirit
their own reflection,
transfigured as in a shining stream,
and loved you for what they are not.

You are less an image in my mind
than a luster
I see you in gleams
pale as star-light on a gray wall . . .
evanescent as the reflection of a white swan
shimmering in broken water.

Sunday Poem ~

I miss seeing bloomed daffodils

winter storm Stella froze stretched stems

in New Jersey – grateful for technology;

I find comfort in the poem, Daffodils by William Wordsworth.

Enjoy!

Sunday Poem ~

Patience Taught by Nature

Elizabeth Barrett Browning, 18061861

An ode to the authentic autumn weather gracing the Jersey Shore this day from poetry’s Romanticism Era as today

I am embracing autumn; layered arms, sheepskin feet, hands hidden inside hoodie pockets, base-boards cued hum,

sassafrass fall underbelly sassafress fall– as romantically as arthritic can under weather vices.
